Boris Savchenko Wins Alekhine Memorial

The fifth stage of the Russian Cup – Alexander Alekhine Memorial – finished in Voronezh. GM Boris Savchenko (Russia) won his game in the final round to take the first place. GM N. R. Visakh (India) is second due to inferior tie-break. Seven players finished the event with 6.5 points: 3. GM Nikita Maiorov (Belarus), 4. GM Ivan Rozum, 5. Arseniy Nesterov (both from Russia), 6. Azamat Utegaliyev (Kazakhstan), 7. GM Evgeny Shaposhnikov (Russia), 8. GM Nikita Meshkovs (Latvia), and 9. GM Dmitry Kryakvin (Russia).

WFM Olga Petrukhina (Kazakhstan) showed the best result among women. IM Rudik Makarian took the first place among young players, Alexander Krivtsov – among local players, while GM Gennady Tunik (all from Russia) – among seniors.
