MINDSPORTS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017

he 4th MindSports World Championships 2017 will be held from 19-27th August at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) in Doha, Qatar.

The competitions in Scrabble, Chess, Go and Esports will offer a record prize fund of 200,000 USD.

The chess programme will include:
Bughouse – August 19th – Prize pool minimum $3000
Blitz 3 min (+2) – August 19th – Prize pool minimum $3000
Main event – August 20th – 25th – Prize pool minimum $28000
Rapid – August 26th – Prize pool minimum $3000
Blitz 5 minutes (+2) – August 27th – Prize pool minimum $3000

The event will kick off with Bughouse and Blitz on 19th August with the Main 6-day Event starting on 20th August, this will be FIDE rated with GM and IM norms. The final weekend will include Chess Rapid, and to complete the event; Chess Blitz.

Every participant will receive a Participation Medal and Diploma.

There will be varying daily side events starting at costs as low as $10 per entry. Plus, there will be a free to play area.

Bug House – Day 1
Date: 19th August 2017 – 1 day event
11 Rounds, time control is 3 minutes with a 2 second increment.
09.00 – 13.00 Rounds 1-11
13.00 – 14.00 LUNCH
Full cost: $50
Minimum Prize pool: $3000

Bug House – Day 2
Date: 26th August 2017 – 1 day event 9 rounds 09.00 – 16.00 Rounds 1-9 13.00 – 14.00 Lunch Full cost: $50 Estimated Prize pool: $TBC in cash and prizes

Chess Blitz
Date: 19th August 2017 – 1 day event
Blitz tournament will be a 9 round open, with 2 games for each round.
Time Control 3 minutes with +2 increment
16.00 – 20.30
Entry fee: $50
Minimum Prize pool: $3000
FIDE Rated

Chess Main Event
Date: 20th-25th August 2017 – 6 day event, 9 rounds
Early Bird (Until 1st May): $120
Full Cost : $150
Minimum Prize pool: $28000
FIDE rated, GM and IM norms possible.

Chess Rapid
Date: 26th August 2017 – 1 day event
7 round tournament
10.00 – 13.00 Round 1-2
13.00 – 14.00 Lunch
14.00 – 21.30 Round 3-7

Chess Blitz
Date: 27th August 2017 – 1 day event
Blitz tournament will be a 9 round open, with 2 games for each round.
