A korábbi versenyekhez hasonlóan a fordulók 13 óra 30 perckor kezdődnek, az utolsó játéknapon, január 27-én 12 órakor indulnak a sakkórák.
Az első 40 lépésre 100-100 perc a gondolkodási idő, a következő 20 lépésre 50-50, majd a parti befejezéséig még 15-15 perc, az első lépéstől kezdve még 30-30 másodperc bónuszidővel. A tornán január 12-én lesz az első forduló, 16-án az ötödik kört Alkmaarban, a 10. fordulót január 23-án Leidenben rendezik. Három szabadnapot is kapnak a nagymesterek, 17-én lesz első pihenőnap, január 21-én is szünetelnek a partik.
A hajrá előtt, január 24-én kapnak még pihenőt a résztvevők, majd a befejező három fordulóval zárul a torna,
az első helyen előálló esetleges holtversenyt rájátszással eldöntenék.
