Carlsen vs Svidler this Sunday on chess24
This Sunday we celebrate our 5th birthday, but it feels like only yesterday that we launched the website! To celebrate, we’ll have several free shows for everyone to enjoy this Sunday, the highlight of which is a match between our star co-worker, Peter Svidler, and World Champion Magnus Carlsen, at 18:00 CET on Sunday.

These past 5 years we’ve been striving to provide you with the best content possible. Many of you have told us that the live broadcasts are what you like most, others that Jan has changed your lives, and we also love knowing that you’ve learned a lot with our video series and eBooks.

To celebrate, over the weekend we’ll be covering all the big tournaments while our top players will also be playing Banter Blitz against users. The one you won’t want to miss is a truly remarkable match between our star commentator, Peter Svidler, and the toughest opponent of them all – Magnus Carlsen.
The time control will be 5 minutes per player, with no increment, and both will be streaming their thoughts live as they play a first to 5 points match. For those of you who have never watched a Banter Blitz between two strong players, we strongly recommend watching the recording of our Grischuk vs. Svidler Banter Blitz:

Peter and Magnus have played each other many times, but probably the most legendary battle took place in the last round of the 2013 Candidates Tournament, when Magnus lost against Peter with the white pieces but won the tournament anyway due to Kramnik’s loss against Ivanchuk!
