Nutcracker Battle of the Generations 2020

March 4th – 9th: 6th Nutcracker Match of the Generations (Moscow, Russia)

The traditional Nutcracker tournament is taking place in the Botvinnik Central Chess Club in Moscow from 4-9 March. It sees a team of Kings (Tomashevsky, Gelfand, Shirov, Najer) play Scheveningen matches in classical and rapid chess against a team of Princes (Sarana, Esipenko, Yuffa, Lomasov.
Each player first plays a classical game (90 minutes/40 moves + 30 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1) against each member of the opposing team. They then play two rapid games (15 minutes + a 10-second increment) against each opposing player. The classical games are worth double i.e. 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw.
