A férfi sakkvilágbajnok-jelöltek versenyének folytatáát, a 8. fordulót 2020. november 1-re tűzték ki. Mint korábbról ismert, a férfi sakkvilágbajnok-jelöltek versenyét március végén félbe kellett szakítani Jekatyerinburgban, mivel a koronavírus-járvány miatt Oroszország ideiglenesen leállította a légi közlekedést a többi országgal, a nemzetközi sportági szövetség, a FIDE pedig nem tudta garantálni, hogy a játékosok és a viadal további résztvevői biztonságban haza tudnak térni. A férfi sakkvilágbajnok-jelöltek versenyének első hét forduló eredményei érvényben maradtak, a verseny majd a nyolcadik fordulóval folytatódik 2020. november 1-én.A tartalék helyszín Tbiliszi városa.  Az állás a 7. forduló után: 1. Nyepomnjascsij (orosz), Vachier-Lagrave (francia) 4.5-4.5 pont, 3. Caruana (amerikai), Giri (holland), Vang Hao (kínai), Griscsuk (orosz) 3.5-3.5, 7. Ting Li-zsen (kínai), Alekszejenko (orosz) 2.5-2.5 A folytatásról a FIDE elnöke, Arkady Dvorkovich elmondta még, hogy a helyszín marad Jekatyerinburg, és a torna, amelyet szigorú járványügyi biztonsági intézkedések életbe léptetése mellett bonyolítanak le, november 11-én zárul. Majd hozzá tette, a FIDE a világbajnoki ciklus folytatását tartja az egyik fő feladatnak. A világ egyik legrégebbi sporthagyományaként kötelességünk megvédeni és biztosítani a folytonosságot. A világbajnoki ciklus szintén döntő esemény a sakk népszerűségének növelése érdekében az egész világon. A FIDE tisztában van azzal, hogy rajongók milliói várják a bolygó legjobb sakkozóit a sakktáblához, és a kihívást jelentő körülmények ellenére sem kíméltük erőfeszítéseinket. FIDE announces resumption of Candidates Tournament

After consultation with the players and organizers, FIDE is pleased to announce the resumption of the Candidates tournament. The 8th round has been scheduled for November 1, 2020.

According to the contract Yekaterinburg, the city that organized the first round of the Candidates Tournament at the highest level in March 2020, is still considered as the hosting city. However, considering the epidemiological situation, FIDE has designated a reserve venue: The city of Tbilisi, in Georgia, has been officially approved as an alternative, and it is ready to host the tournament in the same time frame. We are also in touch with other potential host cities from several countries where the event could be moved to, in case additional restrictions reappear in Russia and Georgia.

FIDE considers the resumption of the World Championship cycle as one of the main tasks. As one of the oldest sports traditions in the world, it is our duty to protect it and ensure its continuity. The World Championship cycle is also a crucial event in order to increase the popularity of chess around the world. FIDE is aware that millions of fans are looking forward to seeing the best chess players on the planet back at the chessboard, and we have spared no effort to make it possible despite the challenging circumstances.

FIDE Candidates 2020

Dear national federations and members of the chess community:

FIDE is making every effort to ensure that the second leg of the Candidates 2020 will be held in Autumn 2020. Over the past three months, we have intensified our contacts with chess organizers, especially from countries in the so-called “green zone”. We have tried to identify potential venues where the epidemiological conditions would allow for the event to be resumed under safe conditions.

We are going to extend this consultation period for a few more days, until August 21, 12:00 CET. If you are a chess promoter and your country meets these conditions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at your earliest convenience, indicating your relevant experience in organizing top-level events and possible sources of funding. Given the constantly-changing situation, we would like to consider all the potential alternatives before making a decision.

Please use our official email office@fide.com for any communications on this matter.
