Tata Steel Chess: Nepomniachtchi grabs the lead

– Ian Nepomniachtchi is now the sole leader at the 81st edition of the Tata Steel Masters after knocking down Vladimir Kramnik’s Berlin wall in the third round of the competition. Ding Liren beat Jorden van Foreest with the black pieces and now shares second place with Vishy Anand. In the Challengers, Andrey Esipenko and Parham Maghsoodloo won in round three to join the pack of co-leaders on 2/3. Nepomnjacsij legyőzte Kramnyikot, félpontos előnnyel vezet, Rapport remizett Radzsabovval

A Wijk aan Zee-ben zajló 81. Tata Steel Chess Masters viadalának harmadik fordulójában Rapport Richárd sötéttel remizett az azerbajdzsáni Tejmur Radzsabovval. Az orosz derbin Jan Nepomnjacsij legyőzte exvilágbajnok honfitársát, Vlagyimir Kramnyikot és félpontos előnnyel vezet. A kínai Ding Liren bonyolult csatában nyert a holland Jorden Van Foreest ellen, a lengyel Jan-Krzysztof Duda is sötéttel mért vereséget az orosz Vlagyimir Fedoszejevre.

Garry Kasparov

After 3 rounds, 6 wins for black vs just 1 for white in Wijk aan Zee. Definitely “Black is OK!”, if anyone remembers András Adorján’s famous book. 11:37 – 2019. jan. 14.

The game between Vidit and Magnus Carlsen eventually ended in a draw after 131 moves – the World Champion’s longest game at #TataSteelChess to date (his previous record was 123 moves against Anishgiri).

Carlsen is now just 3.8 points ahead of Caruana, so the world no. 1 spot will again be at stake in Carlsen-Kramnik tomorrow
